KVN is privately held company, founded in 2008 by veteran design and verification professionals with over 50 years of SONET/SDH and Ethernet domain expertise.

History

During a previous project, we designed an OC-48 Frontend (Section/Line/Path Recovery, Pointer Processing, and Overhead processing). Since the design sechedule was extremely aggressive, there was no need to consider future applications, either toward OC-192 or OC-12. So during the design, we realized that this is so ridiculous, we are designing the same thing (with small variations) for the 10th/15th time. From a development point of view, this was a ridiculous situation to be in. So we started working on our own Intellectual Property. We began developing configurable SONET/SDH(GFP/LCAS)/Ethernet modules to use as buliding blocks to construct systems. Configurability is at the rate level from STS-1 to STS-48 (STM-0 to STM-16) at the time of synthesis. Our goal is to provide customers the service to generate custom silicon to suit their needs, as opposed to buying off the shelf silicon at a higher cost, which more often than not, doesn't meet all the system requirements.

KVN's goal is to become the development arm of clients whose main focus is manufacturing and sales of SONET/SDH/Ethernet Systems!
